In a newly constructed apartment-building, we were asked to transform a residential apartment of about 100 m2 into a speech-therapy office. The requirements were the creation of a reception desk area, a living-waiting-room, an office for the speech- therapist and a play-therapy area for the children that come in for therapy of evaluation.

The key issues that had to be addressed were

  1. Cost
  2. Functionality
  3. Creating a simple, but interesting space
  4. Having a “playfulness” in the design of objects or furniture
